A model for people dedicated to vocational values and the Patron of the Universal Catholic Church. Saint Joseph was totally devoted to work and he often obtained them with the grace and by the spirit of penance, through unfailingly putting devotion to duty before any inclinations; to labour with thankfulness and joy, deeming it an honour to employ and to develop, the gifts received from God; to work with order, peace, moderation, and patience, without ever shrinking from weariness and difficulties; to work above all with a pure intention and with detachment from self, having always accounting that does not render of time ill-spent, of talents unemployed, of good undone, and of the empty pride in success. Saint Joseph is often represented with the infant Jesus and a stem of Lily, that depicts purity, two turtle doves, a staff and also with spikenard, an aromatic perfume prized at the time of Christ, it was used by Mary of Bethany to anoint the feet of Jesus before the Last Supper. The above manifestations have been adopted by the all working at Saint Josephs Hospital as their motto in life and in death.
